About Taita Hills
The Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary is a private reserve between Tsavo East and Tsavo West, and the reason to stay is the lodge. Salt Lick is built on stilts around a floodlit waterhole, with an underground hide, and elephants walk beneath the rooms at night.
It makes a fitting last night on the southern circuit: after Amboseli and the two Tsavos, you finish with the animals coming to you rather than the other way round. Our Kenyan Wilderness route ends here before the drive back to Nairobi.
